First Impressions: I was blown away by the quality of the graphics on the Evo. Da Fods has done a terrific job of

the HKS bullet from the gunman. The black and white Livery is clean and perfectly done. Big thumbs up on the

paint. The tune also feels good, it’s no aero so we might have a little less grip than most but make up for it in straightline speed..

On The Tracks: The B500 Asian Tour was a good place on the evnts calendar for this car, so starting this series of races puts us at Tsukuba Short. Immediately my overzealous driving brings out the worst, and I got a little oversteer in some corner exits, and understeer on the way in. Braking a little earlier, and holding off the throttle a little longer stopped that, but in between you can hold a lot more speed than you’d expect to. The result was a fastest lap for me of 44.559 a new P.B. at #792 on the almighty leaderboards, pretty good then on the tight track.

Motegi East is next up, and on this track I found the Evo could be pushed very fast into the corners, and blast out of them quickly. I was enjoying the drive so much, it was fast, grippy and has excellent brakes and worked so well at Motegi East. The fastest lap and another new personal best at 1:30.380 puts me at #530. Great so far.

Moving forward through the events brings us to Suzuka to run the West end of the track. The Mitsubishi again puts in an excellent performance. Every type of turn is handled with the same precision and then the car powers out along the straights. Another good laptime for another P.B. 1:24.763 puts me at #1019 here.

Motegi returns, this time for 4 laps of the full track. Not my best track, and I mess up in the first lap, but the second lap feels good and I get a clean lap. The only one though as I mess up the 3rd lap, and then at the end think it’s a 3 lap race, and get ready to cross the line sideways (I’m not the only one, come on admit it you do it too right?) As I cross the line I realise that the race is still on. DOH!. So the best lap was a 2:07.613, and it could have gone faster, but it still beats my old P.B. and puts me at #2037 so it’s not all bad.

The final race comes back around to Suzuka. Full circuit but this one really is only 3 laps. Again I love the Suzuka track, but a good laptime on the full circuit always eludes me. The Evo again feels fantastic, and holds every corner wherever you place it. Fast or slower corners all feel good, but a little more speed is useful on this circuit too. In the end it’s another new P.B. from the best lap of 2:15.262 which gets me to #1574 on the leaderboard for this track.

The Verdict: A stupendous looking paint with excellent details, and somehow Fods has made Black and White look cool again. I love the paint. Then onto the tune itself, 5 new P.B.’s from 5 races, and two in the top 1000 says a lot. I am not the fastest guy in the game, and running no assists this Evo had to do a lot of the work. It did and how. A really solid tune, and a very easy to drive car. Yes it has a little understeer, and can be made to oversteer if you get too hamfisted with the throttle, but it doesn’t let go of the track easily. All I’m gonna say is go get the car as soon as you can it won’t disappoint. Details of availability to follow….

First Impressions: The Red, White and Blue colour scheme on this car is a winner. It looks terrific and fits the car so well, I like it a lot. The Crossfire is a big heavy car, and you can feel it when you brake, although it’s not so obvious when cornering if you get it slowed down. It feels fast though..

On The Tracks: North America hosts the B Class tour for this car to compete at, starting with the fast and furious Sunset Club Circuit in Reverse direction. The Chrysler launches hard, and leaves the AI far behind in a few moments. Then at the end of the fast sweeping turn you feel the weight as you brake to go left. Then it’s back on the gas and feel the acceleration again. The top speed that I saw on the straight/sweeping left was 150mph, and could still make the turn. It handled the high speed corners with aplomb too, helping me to a new P.B. with a laptime of 1:03.584 at #749 on the Leaderboards.

Moving along and my enthusiasm drops as Sedona Club Reverse is next. The Crossfire feels good, or as good as it’s going to get with my hamfisted driving on this track. It handles some poor lines, it takes some braking whilst correcting the line and everything else I throw in the mix, and still makes it around, so the car is good. The best lap I get is a 1:14.805 which would have placed it in the 800’s on the leaderboards.

Next is Laguna Seca, a track I should know well but for some reason I still never do any good at. The Chrysler is doing all it can and doing it well, but again is let down by the driver. A 1:38.816 best lap is a long way from what it should do, and should be a few seconds quicker if piloted correctly.

Next on the list is Road Atlanta Club, the heavyweight Crossfire pushes a bit wide up the hill, and I had difficulty getting a clean fast lap. I could get a fast lap, but usually picked up a penalty, or I got a clean lap which was slower. The fastest clean lap was a 59.646, but 58’s are easily possible from the Chrysler.

New York Full track in reverse including those damned chicanes rounds out the series. Another of my pet hate tracks, the chicanes ruin the speed and flow of the old track. But anyways on with the show. For a car which could do with losing a few pounds the Crossfire makes short work of the chicanes, and handles beautifully. Acceleration between the traffic calming additions is also brisk and makes short work of those sections before the next chicane looms out of the shadows. All this leads to a new P.B. for me of 1:10.172 for #2275 on the LB’s. A practised driver in these chicanes should be able to knock a chunk out of that time too.

The Verdict: An excellent car all round. The paint looks incredibly good, simple but very effective. The Chrysler drives great once you get used to the weight for stopping purposes. The cornering is extremely good and you don’t feel the weight at all once you hit your corner entry speed. It accelerates well, and hits a good top speed. With some seat time this will be a great car to use on a lot of tracks, but it will need the effort up front to get used to it. A very unusual car to pull from the garage, but will serve you well when you do. Should do well for almost any level of driver as it has no real bad traits to overcome.
